# Converting a Personal Workspace

> Learn how to convert your personal workspace into an organization, and what happens to your services, billing and API keys

You can convert your personal workspace into an organization. Your active services, billing and API keys move into the organization, so your team can work with them.

<Warning>
  Conversion cannot be undone. Services and billing cannot be moved back to a personal account after converting.
</Warning>

## What Happens When You Convert

* **Proxies and services move over.** All active services transfer to the organization workspace.
* **Billing moves with them.** Future invoices are issued under the organization.
* **API keys stay valid.** All existing keys keep working, and you do not need to change your integrations.
* **Your personal account stays separate.** Byteful creates a new, empty personal workspace for you, so you can switch between personal and organization at any time.
* **You are the owner.** You can transfer ownership to another member later.

## Converting Your Workspace

1. Make sure that you are in your personal workspace. The workspace switcher at the bottom of the sidebar shows **Personal**.
2. Open the workspace switcher and click **User settings**.
3. On the **General** tab, find the **Convert to organization** banner and click **Convert account**.

When the conversion is complete, the workspace switcher shows your new organization and a new **Personal** workspace.

The limit on the number of organizations that you can own also applies to conversions. See [Creating an Organization](/general/organizations/creating-an-organization).
